Knowing Football Isn't Enough

Knowing loads about football is fine, but that's only part of it. If a coach doesn't meet these three standards, they don't last.

Footballers First

Team

Attitude

Footballers First means the players are our most important consideration. Our aim is to maximise the potential of every player we coach. Every child should leave a session happier than when they arrived. It's about them, not us.

Team means supporting each other as coaches, preparing sessions properly and working hard together. It's not about hierarchy. From trainee coach to director, we all get stuck in and hold each other to the same high standards and help each other become better football coaches.

Attitude means showing up the same way regardless of the weather, how your day is going or how the last session went. The best coaches aren't always the best qualified, they're often just the most engaging. Their players can't wait to see them and look forward to their session all week, rain or shine.

We've spent countless hours on our coaches training schemes but these 3 things are the most important part of being a Foot-Tech coach.

You can know the most about football but if you can't engage children or work well in a coaching team it won't cut it.

The best children's coaches also happen to be really great people.
